Bridge Construction by the Balanced Cantilever Method

The Glilot-West Bridge is about 390 metres long and is built of 7 spans with a maximum length of 62.91 metres.  The bridge is 23.50 metres wide and it has an overall area of 5,279 sq.m.

The bridge was built by the balanced cantilever method - construction and assembly of the bridge using industrialised concrete elements of various sizes, obviating the need for mould creation and metalwork in the building site area. The width of the lower industrialised section is 5.5. m. and the height of the box section is 3.1 m.

The industrialised elements were manufactured at the Ashcrete plant in Ashdod by the short production line technique and were assembled on site using a crawler crane, while setting up temporary traffic layouts at Glilot Interchange in accordance with the progress of the assembly stages.
