Roads & Runways

Completed

In 2020, Ashtrom Construction, through its subsidiary Drachim, completed the widening of Highway 79 over the section between HaSolelim and the settlement of Reineh. The road work was done for Netivei Israel (National Roads Company of Israel), joining a long list of highways and main traffic arteries the Company has been constructing for decades.

Widening of a Central Artery in the Heart of the Galile

As part of the project, Highway 79 was expanded along an 8 km section between HaSolelim in the west and Reineh in the east, creating a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction. Additionally, 1.5 km of secondary roads were laid, along with four roundabouts, four agricultural crossings, drainage ditches, and wildlife crossings.

An interchange was also constructed at the entrance to Nazareth, allowing local residents convenient access without impacting main road traffic. This involved complex rerouting of infrastructure and major systems in a dense urban area, in close collaboration with local authorities.

The project required advanced construction along the route, including retaining walls, drainage systems, multiple asphalt layers, road signage, traffic lights, communication and control systems, and landscaping.
